Thermal Treatments

Low-level light therapy (LLLT) system is a safe, painless, non-invasive treatment that applies light to the region surrounding your eyes, (including the eyelids, eyebrows, and upper cheekbone) gently warming the eyelids. This causes the meibomian glands to unclog and release oils, thus reducing the rapid evaporation of tears typically associated with MGD. LLLT has also shown benefits in treating acute chalazion (styes).

The TearCare system is a treatment for MGD. TearCare is a wearable eyelid device that administers gentle but consistent heat directly to the meibomian glands to liquefy and remove blocked oil and stimulate tear production.

The TearCare device allows the eyes to be open and blinking during the 15-minute procedure. Afterward, Dr. Dennis may manually clear obstructions released from the meibomian glands during treatments
